Since 1986, Creative Art Works has been at the forefront of change within our urban community — empowering the lives of under-resourced youth in Manhattan and its surrounding communities. The organization puts creative art to work, helping youth develop personal and professional skills to meaningfully shape their futures for the better.
As a creative consultancy, Lippincott is always looking for organizations that share our creative DNA. So we knew that in Creative Art Works we had found a long-term partner. Their infectious passion and sense of fun have become hallmarks of a continuing partnership focused on making an impact.
When we first met, Creative Art Works was preparing to expand and was in need of brand support to better communicate their vision. We worked together to establish the foundational brand elements that would better resonate with corporate donors and build brand recognition for the nonprofit as an organization creating meaningful change.
Creative Art Works’ brand narrative was just the starting point. We collaborated on ways for the brand to express itself more experientially, such as making the annual fundraising gala more engaging for their donors. We also explored how a more playful and dynamic visual and verbal expression would better resonate with target audiences.
The new name, Creative Art Works, shortened from Creative Arts Workshops for Kids, encapsulates the organization’s mission and the meaningful impact they have achieved. The new logo was inspired by their diverse community, New York City, and by the organization’s expanded services and programs into in-classroom learning and after-school public art youth employment. Designed to appeal to a wide range of ages, the design depicts the many inspirations, tools and outcomes of creativity. “We are thrilled to continue our ongoing relationship with Lippincott,” says Brian Ricklin, Creative Art Works Executive Director and CEO. “Our new identity perfectly captures our personality and drive to help create positive change in the lives of youth through visual, performing and multimedia arts.”
Our partnership continues today. Lippincott CEO Rick Wise joined the organization’s board of directors. We worked together to stage Creative Art Work’s largest, most interactive annual benefit in celebration of their 30-year anniversary. We’re in the process of developing a modular pitch kit to help them extend their reach. And, we continue to experience the impact of Creative Art Works firsthand as volunteers.
